THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN RESIDENTIAL DIVERSITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PARTICIPATORY PLANNING

Abstract  The achievement of practicing、"Participatory Environmental planning"、concerns the discrepancies among residents' social status, involvement in politics, and environmental values. In order to implement "What People Really Need", authority institute should consider all the residents' diversities to practice the original intention of "Environmentally Sustainable Development". Following the、"Principle of Diversity"、of the economic theory, "New Liberalism", the paper studies the relationship between residents' diversities and the way to practice "Participatory Environmental planning". A case study of Wufenpu community in Taipei City was conducted by way of questionnaires. The subjects investigateding include local storeowners and dwelling residents. The analysis on correlation and the verification of discrepancies were implemented to probe the interrelation between residents' diversities and the ‘Principle of Diversity’ of ‘Participatory Environmental Planning’.
